SLJ Week 1 Activity 8 part 2

LI: To create your own chorus song

Today for our SLJ activity was to create your own text graphic and make sure to do a background so our audience can get a perfect explained picture in their head to know what the text graphic is about . Something I enjoyed about doing this task was thinking wisely about what text graphic I will use in this task and exploring through the internet to find the most perfect explained picture about my text graphic . One thing that made me interested in this task is being to pick my own text graphic starter and being able to chose which text graphic my DLO links to a team , school , community.  Something I learnt about doing a text graphic is being creative about the colours , font , pictures . The main purpose of my background story is about Anti bullying and the words im tryna say to the audience reading this picture.

The first line, is pretty self explanatory,
There is so many generations today waiting for people or SOMEONE to be their ears or even a shoulder to lean on. Or even someone to say 'I'm proud of you'
Second line, 'A generation of bullies so what you say bout that'
In my own words, and own experience, How do you feel having someone belittle you every chance they get.
Third line, Listen to my story, and the words I have inside'
PLEASE LISTEN, when someone is getting bullied, or abused or hurt, please listen.
Last 2 lines,  What I'm tryna tell you, THAT BULLY IS DIMMING MY LIGHT
Again it's self explanatory, A victim can only handle so much before they break down or do worse.

  • To be honest, in my opinion, Bullying should be known as the worst crime imaginable
  • I have spent nights crying and also days where i have come home from school because I feel ugly, and also unwanted by my pairs at school, it hurts to be bullied.
  • They say Bullies bring people down because they are already at their lowest, I know what it's like to feel at your lowest because of being bullied, so i know how much it hurts.

SLJ Week 1 Activity 8

LI: Create your own text graphic .

One thing that made me interested in this task is being to pick my own text graphic starter and being able to chose which text graphic my DLO links to a team , school , communicity , Something i learnt about doing a text graphic is being creative about the colours , font , pictures . The main story purpose is about our All blacks performing their haka for our Nation anthem and about god defending new eland and their freedom , The words that have been written down is from the words that our beautiful wahine (women ) sings as our All Blacks are standing together in a Tima (group) . As the haka is performed the sun the light bouncing from sun onto our players is like blessing our All Blacks as they do their haka .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 7

LI: To understand the maori words and rearrange them to make sense .

Today for our 7th activity we learnt how  understand and make maori sentences by rearranging the in the correct order . One thing i enjoyed about the activity was rearranging the maori words and making sure thy made sense . Something i found interesting was getting supported by the audio to help me rearrange the words to make the correct sentence and hearing other people's opinions  about how they learnt how to make the maori sentence make sense . something i enjoyed about this task was because i am trying my best to understand most maori words and speak so i can be able to complete a Te Reo Maori task at the average i know it supposed to be done .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 6

 LI:Create a Tanerore kowhaiwhai

Today I learnt that when it is very hot and the air is shimmering Tānerore performs the haka for his mother, Hine-Raumati. This happens in summer as the land heats up. Our challenge was to think about this while we designed our own kowhaiwhai pattern to represent summer. My pattern is like the Tanerore waving as the heat of his body does a haka for his mother as the sun slowly goes into his rest place to do his haka the next day .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 4

LI:To create a piece  insect art

For our activity 4 We were inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue . We went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images that we thought could make a insect our of native wood or other fresh , uneven , dead plants . Something i found interesting about doing this activity was exploring through the native in our school and being able to be creative and find plants or sticks , twigs that i thought could make a creative insect.I found it quite hard to find my items to create my insect because i was thinking about to much insects so i went for a simple one and chose to do a stick insect . I enjoyed this activity because i got to explore with my friends to find my insects items and i got to hear what they were doing and it give me ideas . Here are three interesting things about stick insects : Stick insects have eyes but there vision is a bit poor but they don't ears but they can sense important sounds , It takes about 8 months for stick insects to hatch from there eggs , Stick insects can live upto 5 years but female stick insects can live as twice as male stick insects live .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 3

LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation .

My comic strip shows the conversation I imagine these two people had after one of the men had sneezed his teeth into the sea during a fishing trip. I found this activity interesting because i got to explore my own information of words and fill out my own words of comic strip book, Doing the comic strip activity was really interesting because i got to watch videos ad then come up with my own words that i thought could make my comic book abit cool interesting . Something i learnt about doing this activity was to be creative and make my own comic book .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 2

LI: To write a quality blog comment on someone else’s blog that starts a rich learning conversation.

For our second SLJ activity is to Leave a quality blog comment on another  student’s blog helps us make connections to new learning by asking open ended questions that encourage a reply and motivate the blogger to ask their own question in return. This is how a comment thread starts and when that happens we make connections with a wider audience who we can learn with and from.Something i found interesting about doing a quality comment onto another students blog post was seeing Lesley Art Colouring Book activity and what colours she used .

SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be to find the equipment at home that we didn't find or have . I found this activity creative and interesting because I am looking forward to creating mine and my buddy's design by using the equipment me and buddy gathered together . Something I found interesting doing the SLJ activity was gathering all the equipment, so we could be ready to turn our items into a design . Sorry to Nano Girl for Pronouncing your name wrong in the end i hope you dont mind but i tried my best to pronounce your name right . What do think the activity will come out like ?

Maths Challenge

LI: To create a DLO about how many presents i could use with $100 that i can split between 5 ways .

This DLO is about what presents i would buy for my household with exact $100 dollars budget . I shopped at warehouse and gave a clear explanation why i bought how much money i had left and what my item i bought for them . Something i found interesting about doing the maths challenges were about exploring through the warehouse online shopping to find a present i thought my family would like . One thing i learnt was how to use my money wisely .

Operation Christmas Drop

LI: To write a summary of the story behind the Operation Christmas Drop in your own words.

This week for research  we learned about the operation christmas drop. For the last 68 years the men and women of the US air force who are based at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam have been using a pilot training drill to drop much needed supplies to the people who live on the 60 remote islands that surround Guam. Operation Christmas Drop allows the people living in these remote islands to sustain a better life and the communities to flourish. I think this is a great way to help others and make a difference in peoples lives. The people living on the islands are really grateful and happy to receive the Christmas Drop.

Decorating the tree

LI: To decorate the office Christmas tree

The purpose of our Design Technology challenge was to create a set of Christmas/Holiday decorations that represented our school and the people in it. We were given a design brief from Mr Johnston and a delivery date. To celebrate the end of this challenge LS2 delivered their completed decorations to Mr Johnston, then hung them on the tree in our school office. Mr Johnston was really impressed when we showed him our Christmas decorations and told us he liked that at the end of the decoration it said hand mand by our names . After we decorated the tree we went into friend groups so my group were Me , Ellenora , Sakshi ,Afatia , Diana and Tanisha .

2020 tech flection

LI: To make a Reflection about 2020 tech .

This year i have just attended at PBS and i was abit shy going to my first tech class  and even going to another school to learn other stuff i didn't know about yet the first class. The first tech class i had was about learning technology, robotics with Mrs ferguson, something i found interesting learning about robotics was that how i  learnt about different technologies and learning about mbot , Mbot is a different kind of technology material and you have to use coding to control the settings and to control the movements . The second tech class in my second rotation was cooking tech with Mrs Heka , Something i found interesting about the cooking skills you have to have  like using the knife and if your in a kitchen of three you know how you canus eone station together , how you can  spilt your big meal between a small family . My last rotation was science and what i learnt in science made me more confident about how science is important to us and what science is and how science is important to us . I really enjoyed doing the three rotations of tech because i like the different types of rotation we were given because its different for me from moving to primary to Intermediate .

Art Colouring Book - Step it up

LI: Make a teel paragraph of our art colouring book step it up challenge .

My picture is about a  beautiful woman combing her long dark well treated  hair from the  artist Goyo Hashiguchi . As you can see I have darkened her hair and I have used brighter and darker colours for her robe of flowers and i have use a light brown tan tone for her skin  colour and for the background  , I chosen to be creative and make her hair more realistic and her made sure her flowers on her robe were bright and her look she was happy .

The real picture of the woman combing her hair the recent colours that were used were   light colours and her hair was light grey, the skin was light white and her flowers on the robe  was plain white and the background of the robe was light bluey  . As you can see the artist who painted the woman combing her hair you know by them using light colours in my mind it makes me picture her worried and sad because it's like she was looking forward to a happy day but then something happened so she is at  home combing her long black hair after a nice hot shower and thinking about what happened today and what her day will be like tomorrow

The difference between mine and the picture of the woman combing her hair is that my picture in my mind she  looks like she is worried about someone , something or how she was treated today and singing her head so she can get the stress off her shoulder and probably brighten up a little bit have a faith that tomorrow for her would be a better day . In the real picture the artist colours made me think that she had a down day and she was worrying about too many things at the same time  and that she needed to talk it out or she’ll just make sure to have a positive day and hopefully have no more stressful times .

Illustrated Story

LI: To write a pourquoi (tell me why or how) story that paints a picture in the mind of the reader.

Our challenge this week was to create a pourquoi story that we would illustrate and share with our junior classes. A pourquoi story tells us why something is the way It Is Our story tells why/how… This morning we shared our stories with Room 2 and Room 4, and they loved listening to them. I enjoyed how they were respectful and waited patiently because i didn't now I had the confidence to talk in front of three classes but I did it for Mrs Anderson and I chose to make her proud and not let her down , Ellenora was so confident to talk even though she didn't want to but we did our best and we read to Room 2 Room 4 and LS2 .

Christmas decorations

LI: make Christmas decorations  for our client

This year  LS2 has been making sewing decorations for the PBS Christmas tree  for our client Mr Johnston . Before we started  our Christmas decorations we have made a mood board about all the materials we needed for our accessories  to decorate the outside of our design and what colour felt we needed for our decoration  , the four choices we had to choose from  who also celebrate christmas differently to New Zealand were Hanukkah, Eid ,Diwali and Christmas . From the four choices who celebrate christmas in a different place  I chose was Eid , as you can see my mood board that have different kind of christmas materials are the materials  I need to make a gingerbread man , Polar bear and the  Eid Christmas tree  , the colour felt I needed were yellow and white for the Eid tree, white and black for the polar bear and a light brown and white for the gingerbread man . When I started doing my Polar bear i started struggling but then after i got some i helped I knew  had the confidence to do my sewing on my own and start understanding the process on my own . My opinion doing this challenge was trying something I thought i was bad at but turnt out i was really good , I am so proud of myself that I have created three Christmas decoration and i don't care if its not good like the others at least i participate and i made a Christmas design .

Design Technology Challege

LI: To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.

This year for our challenge we were to make sewing Christmas decoration for our client Mr Johnston  for our PBS Christmas tree . LS2 starting practising doing noughts and crosses before we started getting into doing our design so when we start getting more comfortable about doing sewing we could be able to get more creative with our sewing equipment on doing our design and slowly getting to understand the designing process .We were given an Evaluation sheet to fill in about our Christmas decoration , Something I would differently when we sew again is to do a more challenging decoration so I can improve more into sewing and then i could be able to be more creative on adding sequence's on my decoration then Ill be able to do my best to make it more noticeable and realistic so people know what my decoration is .  My opinion about doing this challenge has made me improve into myself because even though  this Is my first time sewing I thought I was bad and I was the only one  in LS2 who didn't know how to sew but then I realise You never know your really good at something until you try .

Helping with a new skill

LI: Helping someone with a new skill .

This DLO explains about me helping Tanisha with a new skill and how she can improved .In the week i have helped Tanisha  get used to her blog and how to write a interesting , creative blog blurb and how Tanisha is good at asking questions and me  showing positive attitude and how Tanisha is improving about getting used to her blogger , I really like how Tanisha is fulled with respectful and interesting questions when it comes to making a question a challenge or when we have to ask question if we need help or give more advice . Something i found interesting about helping Tanisha was that she respected me about  i was helping  her and she asked a question when she didn't understand .

Representing a inter school game

LI: To create a DLO representing an inter school game .

This year i have decided to join a inter school sport so i could represent PBS . This year playing inter school basketball was a success because while  i was communicating with the rest of my basketball team i realise communicating more with different people and eachother  can actually build a stronger team because were are communicating with each other and we collaborating with each other so we can build a stronger connection , team and bond . Something i found interesting was that playing and communicating with different people made me more comfortable about representing PBS and more confident to fit into a team of people in didn't know i could get along with .

Why plants are important to us ?

LI: Why plants are important to us , animals , environment ?.

Today for our last session at tech we learnt about why plants are important to us , animals and our environment. Mrs Sharma let three groups four to go and get at least 10 different leaves each and then write a table and we have to write the number of the leaves we have the size the texture , colour and the pattern the was on the leaves , The group i was with were Afatia, Liletina , Tanisha and me were we getting exasperate because we kept on getting the same leave and not knowing until we check again . Something i found interesting was learning more about plants and why they are important to our environment.

Pay it forward

LI: To create a DLO on pay it forward.

Today I have created a DLO on pay it forward which is my second task for my Attitude CARE Award. The DLO explains me helping a student in Room 3 during library. She used to have problem in reading and read the passage slow so I helped her improve. In the past library sessions Aaliyah has really improved and she is so welled at reading now and it is so cool to see her improved and she has achieve a goal she as set for herself .

Why is it important to have positive attitude ?

LI: Create a video explaining why having a positive attitude is important?

This video is of me explaining why having a positive attitude is important ? The words i am saying why having positive is important is explaining how you can receive positive attitude back when you show it and if you dont agree with them or respect them they will show the same back. I think having a positive attitude is very important so that everybody can do the same thing back. The presentation showcases a screencastify explaining the topic.

Art colouring book

 LI: To experiment with colours

Today LS2 worked with Room 5 and did art on the Art Colouring Book website . Me and my buddy Keira, painted different pictures as you can see the pictures above my picture i painted was  a woman combing her hair different flowers on her robe from the real picture and something i found interesting was getting advice from my buddy on what colours i should use and how good she liked it . The painting i re created was made from Goyo Hashiguchi and it is about a beautiful woman from japan combing her hair and i re created her robe and the flowers on it , I really liked doing this activity because i got to show my skills and be able to share my skills and art work .

Te Whanau Raukura Performance

LI: To understand the elements behind maori culture .

Today After morning tea  Te Whanau Raukura Performed the Auckland Museum and then show Panmure Bridge School their items they have performed  and told us three elements that they  had bought along  ( Poi, Te rakau , Taiaha )  telling how to use them ,The story behind maori culture . Something i found interesting about the performance was being able to hear the three elements story behind maori culture  and seeing them perform to us what they have learnt and seeing Bekah do four pois and creating the bird behind the 2 dollar coin . After the performance Bekah from Te Whanau Raukura came into LS2 and played Pukana , Pukana is a game played  in maori culture and many others but the rules of how to play Pukana is to make sure whoever starts the game has to be heard and when you say Pukana you always have to Pukana because the game is called Pukana . Something i found interesting was being able to hear other people from other cultures enjoying  playing Pukana and respecting maori culture , we are all thankful for  Te Whanau Raukura  for performing at Panmure Bridge School and telling us the story behind maori culture .

Tech reflection

LI: Learn about the high and low amount of  sugar and if it is good or bad .

Today for Tech Mrs Sharma  showed us that putting a 50 gm of pepsi on top of a bunsen burner can turn into burnt sugar or crystals and made sure we knew  the exact amount of sugar that is in a product . Next Week is our last week doing science with Mrs Sharma so we had to  be creative and explore the food we eat everyday that has sugar in it and tell how much sugar is in that food ,i worked with Afatia and we both came  up with good ideas that we could tell Mrs sharma what food had sugar in them and explain the different meaning that links to the question . We all had a booklet that we cutted and we had to write the food product and amount of sugar and our results we gathered up in the end to find out the Answer to food product and high amount of sugar and food product low amount of sugar so the answer we had was pink lemonade that was the high amount of sugar that equal  29 gm of sugar and weetbix that only had 1.0 gm of sugar . Something that i found interesting was learning about the different type  amount of sugar we eat everyday .

Exploring our national current events

LI:  To identify author’s purpose.

These reasons are to persuade, inform or entertain (PIE). Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make decisions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand, thought about why the story made the news and plotted the location on a google map.For the current events i collaborated with Karlos and Ong and i enjoyed getting more help from them about how to do places on maps and how it works , something i found interesting was being to actually work well with people i don't really work with and being to have the confidence to share my thinking and knowing how to do Current events on google maps .

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?

LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.

Today for Reading i worked collaborative with Ellenora and Liletina to make a DLO about should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport yes or no and write something independant what are our opinions . Something i found interesting was being able to share my ideas with my group and that made me really confident about sharing my ideas with others and being to explain how i got the information and what i learnt about the task i got given , I know something that could be useful to help others keep safe is by wearing a mask and stay home if your sick so we could avoid lockdowns and get through covid-19 together .

Poem

LI: To identify the main idea in the poem

For our follow up on reading my task was to write the main idea from the poem called the embarrassment expert and give at least three details  that links to the poem . In my details that links to the poem i wrote the difficult technique you need to use while you in the middle of a situation in  embarrassment and what  you need to do and to imagine the embarrassment as a stop sign then hopefully it'll turn green soon . Something i found interesting about filling the main idea of the poem is understanding the story behind the poem and being able to use the words to make details that links to the poem the reason why i liked understanding the story behind the poem is because i love learning new  words and understanding different meaning behind different stories.

Measurements

LI: To learn about mass and weights

This week we were put into groups for math In these groups we made up names that  represent maths or includes maths names  , our name that we chose for our group  was The multiplying 7’s because we had seven people in our group and we were supposed to multiply our questions we were given . In the multiplying 7’s were Victoria our leader Giovannie,Makaili,Afa,Karlos , Ong  and Lily  , we put all of our opinions together to come with different solutions to solve our challenges and we would have to ask questions if we didn't understand the question or ask for help because no one should have sat in silence because we are a team and we are all  supposed participate so we all can have friendship even though we haven't worked together but we  did make a big difference and we worked as a good team whether we liked  working together or not . Something i learnt about mass and weights was being able to get help on mass and weights and how i can understand it better , It was helpful to me seeing how other people in my group came up with a solution to our question and it made me more confident about maths .

Why is it important to use our PBS Care values

LI: To write an explanation using TEEL paragraphs .

This week we have been revisiting  explanation writing. Next week is our assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations. I have been working with Hosea and Ellenora on our explanation about our PBS care values Confidence , Attitude , Respect and Excellence and Innovation we have witten 4 paragraphs of teel to every care value and teel stands for Topic sentence , Explain , Evidence and Link .  Me , Hosea and Ellenora use all of our opinion to come up with 4 paragraphs for  teel that represents each PBS care values and we have made an screencastify about our 16 paragraphs of our care values , something i found interesting about writing about an explanation is being able to understand how to write a TEEL paragraph and being able to share my ideas and communicate with others .

Understanding fractions with Mr Fisi'iahi

LI: To learn how to group and split in fractions This week is our last session with Mr Fisiiahi for this term as it was last week.

For this week my group and I worked on fractions and played a game called Play tower of hanoi.

We also used Multi Link cubes to help us understand fractions and to help us solve the questions.

I really enjoyed playing with my partner solving fraction questions.

We also played a game called Dicy numbers which got us into partners.

This game was really fun and competitive as we had to see who was the first one to win.

Understanding fractions helps us understand the groups, twice and the double.

Double means twice as example 6+6=2 or 6 x 2=12.

Explanation

LI: To create a  Explanation about plastic pollution .

Why is it important to make wise choices ?

Rhetorical question : Why do people not care about saving our sea animals from plastic pollution ?

As a result of plastic pollution our sea animals are  slowly dying around the ocean of our globe from suffering  by confusing food and plastic or  rubbish together and eating the rubbish and causing them to die , unable to breathe and their little bodies filled with a big amount of rubbish . Because of the pollution happening around the world the causes of animals to die in such a horrible way is because people's  careless actions are  harming innocent  sea animals from not making wise choices and chooses to hurt our sea creature without realizing how much animals they are putting in danger .

People’s careless action by throwing rubbish and walking away like they aint gonna kill no sea creatures but actually one piece of rubbish or rubbish can affect every sea animal and every person because the germs from someone  that are on the rubbish and you touch it can  give u disease .

You can stop the plastic pollution that is happening around the world  by making wise choices and putting your rubbish in the bin and realize  how much animals you have made suffer by one piece of rubbish  . We can also help  our sea creatures  live a better life by  having to be a sensible leader and care for the environment by putting our rubbish in the bin and making wise choices , People who litter the wind are able to blow the  rubbish to the drains and the drain full of rubbish leads the rubbish  to the ocean and makes innocent sea animals suffer by eating rubbish or have been trapped and are unable to breathe or eat because of the amount of  plastic they have been eating could be able to block  there oxygen and make them suffer to death .

Today for writing Mrs Linda's group were working together to create a started plan off and then create our own Explanation story about plastic pollution . First we had to come up with an rhetorical question and then write more information about what we thought about our story and then write like what we could help to stop plastic pollution and what we thought about sea animals dying .

Tech : Science with Mrs Sharma

LI: To identify the different types and uses  of plastic .

Today at tech we had an activity where we had to listen carefully and think carefully  by arranging  our strips of  our questions and answers  in the  right place: Positive, Negative, Neutral . We had different types materials like Metal, plastic, paper, wood and fabric on a sheet of paper where we had to look around carefully  around the science room and write what furniture or decorations  , equipment are made out of those materials like an example is my first material was what is made out of metal like i saw scissors , Heater, Sharpener and the white board frame . Our task was to sort out the questions about plastic and sort them in which is positive , negative , neutral and explain why we thought that  if our answers were different to other peoples answer .

Do kids spend more time reading than teens

LI: Identify patterns and relationships between data .

Today my group members and I worked with Mr Fisi’iahi, He taught us about statistics and gathering data. We then gathered all the data and turned it into a graph. We also learned about the different types of  graphs and which is the best type of graph we should use to represent the data. Mr Fisi’iahi helped us understand the meanings as an example we learned what pre-teens  means, Pre teens means 12 and under which means teens means 13 and above. We also used a data card to help us understand more on what our learning is about. Something

Tuakana Teina

LI: To create string art panels

Today for Te wiki o te reo maori ( native language week ) LS2 would become like and older brother or older sister to help the little ones learn about different patterns to draw or design their own pattern  we helped Ruma Kotahi ( Room 1  ) and Ruma Korua ( Room 2 ) draw and design patterns and string panels . I helped Alex from Ruma Korua glue his string on the patterns he has chosen to draw and help him cut the right amount of string he needed to glue on the outline of his Turtle, fish  and the Maori  flag . Working with Alex was really hard to make him understand what he was  doing because he would wander off to work space 2 or because he was to excited to do art with LS2 but i just moved on and tried my best to help him understand and to focus then in the middle of our second block with Ruma Kotahi and Ruma Korua Alex was really excited to cut the string and also he loved to glue the string or connect the lose string to the end of the string . Something i learnt today about  helping Alex was that he was really excited to help me do his art and he even wanted to help everyone else on our table we worked on glue there strings .

Whakapapa , family tree

LI: To create a DLO about your family tree .

This week for our Te Reo Challenge, I created a DLO that talks about my family tree DLO that shows my family members' names. I used Maori words that could help us understand  more about my  family tree. The family tree includes our siblings, parents, grandparents and great grandparents and also it has designs I traced and created. The most interesting fact I learned well making this DLO was that another word for Family Tree is Whakapapa. I have done my whakapapa half Samoan and half Maori .

Biology

L.I To look for evidence in the data/an image and infer what might be happening

This DLO is about Observation and Science. Science is  empirical which means it is based on. I worked with Liletina ,Afatia and Sakshi. We all worked together and shared our ideas on this DLO. We looked for images  that links to the information on our DLO to help the readers understand what our DLO is about. We completed  our task by working together,Sharing our ideas,  Helping  each other to get this task done.  I also really enjoyed working and giving my ideas on what I should do to get this task done and completed. I also really enjoyed talking to my group members to explain What is Science?.

sunflowers

LI: To recreate a still life of Vincent Van Gogh

Today Sakshi ,Afatia ,Liletina and I were recreating the style of Vincent Van Gogh sunflower painting. First we watched a video and practiced it on a piece of paper to learn about the dabbing and twisting effect on the sunflowers. When we were ready we made the horizon line across the final paper  and painted it dark as compared to the top.  We then started mixing colours with proportions for the vase which were copper and white to paint the vase. We then started using the same effects for the sunflowers we did for practice.  The practice helped us improve our painting and we were very happy that we could work as a team.

Its cool 2 B me

LI: To create a DLO about how its cool to be me

Today for the Dare activity we got given a DLO about why its Cool 2 B  me . One thing i liked doing for  Its Cool 2 B me chart was being able to explain why i like being me  and what i like doing , and my goals i have set for myself , I had to think really carefully about what im writing in my best friends list to see if im actually friends with them or if im there friend  and what quality i look for in friends . I thought really  well  about the what goals ive  set for myself and what i like doing and with who .

Algebraic with Mr Fisi'iahi

LI : To solve and create algebraic equations .

Today my group and I  learnt Algebra with Mr Fisi'iahi. We started off by finding out the values of the animals. The animals we did were Piwaiwaka,Gecko,Kiwi,Tuatara and Pukeko. We summed up an answer then we  simplified the answers to make it easier to understand and explain what's happening. We created a DLO with our algebraic equations but we had to make the question unbalanced so that Mr Fisi'iahi could make it balanced, we had to create for Mr Fisi'ahi . I really enjoyed working with my partner and my group to answer the questions we’re trying to solve. These tasks and questions help us understand and explain what Algebra is.  We also learned how to balance the animals on a log or plan to make it equal and even. Something I learnt today is   about how to explain what Algebra is and how to solve the problem by using each other's opinions and put it together to create a solution to our problem . Instead of using the numbers like 1 we learnt how to simplify the number . I worked with Liletina to create a problem solving for Mr Fis'iahi to solve , I enjoyed collaborating with Liletina because i enjoyed using each others opinions to create a DLO by using what we know and what we learnt about using the values what the animal equal.

Tech reflection

LI: To identify what we know about about science .

Today Year 7's had there next rotation in Science with Mrs Sharma . Our topic  today was learning about steam and different kind of Science equipment scientists normally use in there science lab , While we were listening  and looking carefully to Mrs Sharma about the  different equipment she was showing us so when Mrs Sharma shows us the equipment we could be able to explain what it is .  We were aksed three questions and told to write it on the AV3 about what you think scientist do and would you  like to become a scientist and what scientist would you like to be  , Me and Juel buddie up and shared our answers together and asked why then when we were finished we got to write what question we wanted to find out and my question was ( Why do we need trees to have oxygen ? ) . I really enjoyed  learning new words of science and differen equirement

Timeline of Vincent Van Gogh

LI: To create a timeline to  show the life of Vincent Van Gogh.

Made with Padlet

Today Lily,Afatia,Skashi and I worked together to complete this task for reading and writing. We used our searching skills and our opinions to create an timeline on Vincent Van Gogh. We used a website called Padlet which help us create the summary of his life. We first worked as a team by searching for interesting facts and information about Vincent Van Gogh and wrote it on a piece of paper. We then looked for websites that could help understand more about him. Once we have found the information we added it onto the time line and used images to help the readers understand more. We learned a lot about his personal life and his career. After completing this task the most interesting fact that I learned was that he wasn't really noticed when he was alive because people didn't  like how he did dark colours but after all he went to France and looked at all the colourful paintings  so he decided to use more of colourful colours . Vincent Van Gogh would use his moods to pain so if Vincent was sad he'd use dark colours if he is in the mood of happiness he would use colourful colours . Now that Vincent Van Gogh died he is now most known as the best artist of still life in the history .

Security officer / guard Career Pathway

LI: To find out what Qualifications i will need to become a Security Officer/Guard

This DLO shows what qualifications i will need to become a Security officer/ Guard and what skills and knowledge i will need . Researching   about the career i would like to be when i grow up has helped  me have more information about  what a Security officer/ guard does and what the knowledge they should have . A Security  officer always have to be fitted because they may be on there feet night and day and we have to always have a  skill where we have to problem solver and always control a bad crowd .

Cybersmart / helping others

LI : To create a Screencastify which will help others find a class blog .

The above screencastify is created by Liletina, Afatia, Sakshi  and me under the topic of cybersmart. The reason we created this video is to guide the students or parents who are new to our school and do not know how to access something. We first chose the topic of our video which is to reach to a class blog. We first created our script on a piece of paper and then decided the dialogues each person will say. Once we were ready we created the screencastify from my chromebook. We made a couple of mistakes at first but we then got the confidence from trying it again and again. I liked that we could showcase our learning through a video and it could be helpful.
