SLJ Week 1 Activity 4

LI:To create a piece  insect art

For our activity 4 We were inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue . We went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images that we thought could make a insect our of native wood or other fresh , uneven , dead plants . Something i found interesting about doing this activity was exploring through the native in our school and being able to be creative and find plants or sticks , twigs that i thought could make a creative insect.I found it quite hard to find my items to create my insect because i was thinking about to much insects so i went for a simple one and chose to do a stick insect . I enjoyed this activity because i got to explore with my friends to find my insects items and i got to hear what they were doing and it give me ideas . Here are three interesting things about stick insects : Stick insects have eyes but there vision is a bit poor but they don't ears but they can sense important sounds , It takes about 8 months for stick insects to hatch from there eggs , Stick insects can live upto 5 years but female stick insects can live as twice as male stick insects live .

  4. Greetings Lily,

As I was scrolling through your blog, I noticed this splendid art of yours. Wow! this is such a great piece of drawing. I really like how descriptive your blurb is. It was very descriptive and thoughtful of you to talk about the process and the creativity that came with it. I also enjoyed the 3 facts that you found. My favorite one was...
"It takes about 8 months for stick insects to hatch from there eggs"
    what was yours?

The only feedback I have for you, is to separate the three facts with your actual blurb.

How did Raku Inoue inspire you?

Hope to see more from you Lily!

  5. Hello Lily
I am going to have to find out more about the artist Raku Ionue. It is an interesting idea to be able to use such materials to create and artwork. Your stick insect, ironically made from sticks looks quite realistic. Interesting fact also that you have gathered about these insects.
What a fun way to start your Summer Learning Journey. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  7. Hey Lily

I’m Daniel from the SLJ Blog commenting team. I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing blog posts and I hope you’re enjoying your summer.

Sounds like you had fun with this task, doing it with friends and with a bit of exploring. I can definitely relate to having too much choice with all the different possibilities.

I think your stick insect turned out pretty good, it looks like it’s arms are up in celebration. And the extra facts you’ve included were quite interesting.

    Good work Lily
See you later in the comments.

  9. Greetings Lily,

Wow! Your art looks fabulous! Its such a perfect example. I think the most effective part of your design is that you have even sized twigs. Before making a butterfly for my design I thought I would make something with twigs but it was impossible for me to find twigs of the same size. Good job! I also liked that you have chosen a perfect background because it makes the art stand out. The blurb is well explained and detailed which helps the reader know more about the topic. If you were asked to make another design what would you make and how?

    Keep up the great work!
