Hauora For everyone

Athletes need to have both body & mind physically and mentally stable for them to be a good athlete. Me and my parnter Liane worked colloboratively to combined both our ideas to explain a statment using our knowledge of Hauora.

Athletes at the top of there field train mentally and physically because it both the body & mind that need to be strong to have balance as an athlete . It is important to enjoy and celebrate the sucess you earn but it is equally as important to embrace the unsucessful times. It is the lessons you take from loosing that makes you stronger & wiser .Even when you hit a negative midnset you still need to learn to remain calm in stressful situations . It is having a self belief in yourself and the support of you whanau to keep you motivated.

Matariki Harvest

LI:Create a DLO about food that is harvest in Matariki.

Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition.
To strengthen our connections to Matariki we had a choice of research activities.I enjoyed this task because I got to use my researching skills to find out the food harvested in Matariki.Something I learnt about harvest foods in matariki is all the different foods harvest throughout the session of Matariki.

I enjoyed this task because I revisted my knowledge about Matariki and learnt from my group and worked together.

Tatau

LI: To create a DLO that tells others about tatau

Tattooing has played an important part in many cultures over time. Our challenge was to use our smart searching skills to find out about traditional tattooing in our own culture.I found it quit hard because i couldnt really explain in proper words the meaning and when the first invention of the Tatau tattoo and the real meaning behind the Tatau background story . I enjoyed the activtiy because i got to expreicene more about the Tatau background of my cultrual . An interesting fact I found out about the tatau is that the Tatau was first introuduced to Samoan by two Fijian women .

Qualities of a good leader

LI: To unpack what leadership looks like

The moral of the background of our task was to unpack all our groups opinions and ideas to create a group collaboration of what definition of leadership looks like . Something i found interesting about unpacking what leadership looks like or is , is listening to others opinions and ideas what they thought leadership was and why . A definition of leadership is when they set a good example for our young students and participate in sports or other things so they will support our school and not let them down .

Decorating the tree

LI: To decorate the office Christmas tree

The purpose of our Design Technology challenge was to create a set of Christmas/Holiday decorations that represented our school and the people in it. We were given a design brief from Mr Johnston and a delivery date. To celebrate the end of this challenge LS2 delivered their completed decorations to Mr Johnston, then hung them on the tree in our school office. Mr Johnston was really impressed when we showed him our Christmas decorations and told us he liked that at the end of the decoration it said hand mand by our names . After we decorated the tree we went into friend groups so my group were Me , Ellenora , Sakshi ,Afatia , Diana and Tanisha .

Christmas decorations

LI: make Christmas decorations  for our client

This year  LS2 has been making sewing decorations for the PBS Christmas tree  for our client Mr Johnston . Before we started  our Christmas decorations we have made a mood board about all the materials we needed for our accessories  to decorate the outside of our design and what colour felt we needed for our decoration  , the four choices we had to choose from  who also celebrate christmas differently to New Zealand were Hanukkah, Eid ,Diwali and Christmas . From the four choices who celebrate christmas in a different place  I chose was Eid , as you can see my mood board that have different kind of christmas materials are the materials  I need to make a gingerbread man , Polar bear and the  Eid Christmas tree  , the colour felt I needed were yellow and white for the Eid tree, white and black for the polar bear and a light brown and white for the gingerbread man . When I started doing my Polar bear i started struggling but then after i got some i helped I knew  had the confidence to do my sewing on my own and start understanding the process on my own . My opinion doing this challenge was trying something I thought i was bad at but turnt out i was really good , I am so proud of myself that I have created three Christmas decoration and i don't care if its not good like the others at least i participate and i made a Christmas design .

Design Technology Challege

LI: To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.

This year for our challenge we were to make sewing Christmas decoration for our client Mr Johnston  for our PBS Christmas tree . LS2 starting practising doing noughts and crosses before we started getting into doing our design so when we start getting more comfortable about doing sewing we could be able to get more creative with our sewing equipment on doing our design and slowly getting to understand the designing process .We were given an Evaluation sheet to fill in about our Christmas decoration , Something I would differently when we sew again is to do a more challenging decoration so I can improve more into sewing and then i could be able to be more creative on adding sequence's on my decoration then Ill be able to do my best to make it more noticeable and realistic so people know what my decoration is .  My opinion about doing this challenge has made me improve into myself because even though  this Is my first time sewing I thought I was bad and I was the only one  in LS2 who didn't know how to sew but then I realise You never know your really good at something until you try .

A Security  officer always have to be fitted because they may be on there feet night and day and we have to always have a  skill where we have to problem solver and always control a bad crowd .

Hauora

LI:To create an information poster about the fours walls about  Hauora

This week we have  been exploring Hauora and Hauora is the Maori belief of health that is unique to New Zealand.  There are four walls of Hauora , Taha Whanau ,Taha Wairua,Taha Hinengaro and Taha Tinana . If one wall falls down then everyone would lose relationships and would become a theft and start paying more bills then usual and also unstable . If all walls are standing we will be risk takers and have the confidence to take part in something and will lead there body to be healthy . Something i learnt about Hauora is that there is different meanings of the four walls and that if one wall fell down it could infect us by losing relationships and communication .

Hauora

LI: To create a blurb about what if one wall fell down and how would it infect us .

This DLO shows Two pictures of me and Ellenora and our four walls created out of AV paper and the 4 names of the four walls. When me and Ellenora was trying to make the four walls stand by itself but we were at the point  when we were losing connection and we were getting frustrated because we were getting angry because me or Ellenora would knock over one wall . Writing the blurb of how if one wall falls down would  infect us . If one wall falls down then some people lose their loved ones and also friendship and they'll start stealing and have to pay bills that they cant afford   one thing i found interesting about our Hauora challenge 2 was that even if one wall falls down we always have to support each other and express your emotions and  express your feelings and have the confidence to be apart of a team and always take part in something .

Hauora

LI: To reflect the connection i have to Hauora

This DLO shows about the connections i have to Hauora and others around me while i am  thinking about Hauora i know Hauora is the Maori belief of health that is unique  to New Zealand . I have written all the connections i have and my family to Hauora and what we think about and what Hauora and its fours does to us .

Connections to problem solving

LI: To explore problem solving

Today our internet  connection  wasn't working   so  LS2 and LS1  challenge was to listen carefully   to the  simple instructions  we were given on  how to create an ancient  Chinese   Tangram puzzels and problem solve .  We used  one piece  of AV paper and  we used scissors to cut  our paper to  create   our Tangram puzzel  and  I and Wairaka from LS1  collaborated together and communicated together to try and problem solve our Tangrams puzzle to make  different kind of animals . Me and Wairaka found making animals out of our Tangram puzzle hard until we asked  each other for helped and  we communicated by asking question by asking why is this puzzle different to each others . I  and Wairaka  managed to make a cat and a duck out of our Tangram puzzels   by asking for each other for help and working together as a team  .

What is matariki

LI: To create a DLO naming the stars that make up Matariki

Each of the stars of Matariki has a name that are given from the Maori legends that is known as the Seven sisters. Before the Seven sisters were transformed into bright stars they were beautiful wahine's that are Patupaiarehe ( Farirys) They were beatiful Sitsers with golden hair and beautiful voice like an angel from the heavens . Matariki Is known as the mother surrounded from her  six but she is  the oldest sister known in  the Maori legend , Matariki is special to Maori's because it is a year when Maori's are free  to gather together to celebrate their ancestors who has given the journey for them to walk till the next Maori's walk on their path.
