Tech Reflection

LI: To make something out of the joint between the gap in the wood .

For the first week of tech at Tamaki College with Mr Grundy for hard material . our first lesson were  to follow the instructions so we knew what the first step to do so we could get started to design our toy made out of wood . Mr Grundy first showed us his and his students have made out of wood and building equipment tools , Second we had to draw 8 designs we thought we could make out of the joint between the wood of our design and we what we would make out of one of the eight designs we drawn  . Something i found interesting and learnt was learning the structures of how to start a simple and creative design made out of wood .

Nga Mihi

LI: To create a visual mihi that allows others to connect to us and our place in the world

This activity is about introducing our school and areas around and also our little bit of our self . This is the year when we meet new people and this helps us connect more to each other and we can know more about ourselves and our place . I found this activity interesting because i got to explore more in maori language and understand the meaning of it .

Addition Challenge

LI: To create a DLO about your thinking of how you got your strategy  to the question

Today task for maths were complete a addition or subtraction challenge and complete all of the questions and pick one for a DLO and explain the starthey you use to find the answer to the question . I have made a screencastify explaining my strategy that could be easier to understand for the audience who are reading my work . The reason why i chose this strategy was because it made it clear for me to understand the question and the strategy i used to get the correct numbers for the question . Something i found interesting was using my knowledge that i knew that could help solve the problem to my question .

Why do we use TEEL paragraphs

LI: To understand how TEEL paragraphs can help us structure our information and ideas in a paragraph

We use paragraphs in our writing to expand on an idea. In LS2 we use the TEEL acronym (title, elaborate, evidence and link) to help us structure our thinking. The example on my DLO shows about what a TEEL paragraph is and an example of a TEEl paragraph for the reader who is reading the text. I enjoyed this activity because i got to understand more about a TEEL paragraph and to help set an example to others about an example of doing paragraphs and how you can use it . Something i found interesting was writing an example to other readers to understand more about a TEEL Paragraph and being able to use my opinion that can set an example of a TEEL paragraph to others .

Qualities of a good leader

LI: To unpack what leadership looks like

The moral of the background of our task was to unpack all our groups opinions and ideas to create a group collaboration of what definition of leadership looks like . Something i found interesting about unpacking what leadership looks like or is , is listening to others opinions and ideas what they thought leadership was and why . A definition of leadership is when they set a good example for our young students and participate in sports or other things so they will support our school and not let them down .

Why it is important to be hydrated

LI: To understand whys staying hydrated is important for our health and learning .

Our task was about defining the difference between hydration and dehydration in a group of 5 or 4. The importance to stay hydrated because the more water you drink the more activity you have in your body, Something i found interesting about learning about the different between hydrated and dehydrated is that i heard different people's opinions in my group about what they thought about the difference about dehydrated and hydrated . The definition of hydrated is that staying hydrated is important because the more water you drink is the more active your body is throughout the day , the definition of dehydrated is that the less water you drink the conscious you feel and the darker your urine is .

Statistical Investigation

LI:To plan and carry out a statistical investigation

Our  task in maths today was carrying out a statistical investigation to gather   data to create a data graph of the questions we asked people  in LS2 . I worked with Te Raumati so we could think about four questions to ask people and then in the end we have to scan through all of questions and think about what question was best to use for data graph . As you can see we picked Whats LS2's favourite colour,  we noticed that  40.0%  LS2 chose blue making it the most popular. Something I found interesting is getting to talk to different people and what their answers were. In the beginning I predicted that more people would pick the colour purple or white because a lot of people would have used white when colouring in something or using colours to create their DLO.

Summary of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text is about .

The Treaty of Waitangi was made to bring peace to New Zealand. Our task was to read a text about how the Treaty of Waitangi began. We used used respical reading to help us understand the text more. When we completed reading the text, we were using  summarizing template to help us create a  short paragraph telling us about the story. This task was really fun because we got to learn more about our past and what happened when the britain came to New Zealand. Something i found interesting about doing this task was being able to hear that my opinion and my group helped put together a summary that had all of our ideas and our opinions .
