Ancestors Poem

LI: To write a Poem about our cultures and past about our ancestors

What is this task about ?  Me and how i feel about my ancestors. I have written a Poem in confidence about what i feel about carrying the strong warmth blood of my ancestors and how proud i am to be who i am . Writing a poem about my ancestors has helped me learn more about who i am and how my ancestors has given me a bad path and a good path to walk to the future . I have been wondering all my life what is a ancestor and how they helped me be the person who i am now, The learning in this task has me learn more about my cultures and has helped me believe in   more about myself

Six photos / Reading

LI:  To use the clues in the text and your knowledge to infer the story behind the picture

          This DLO shows how me and my group worked collaborated  to find the answer that are linked to the book that we read. These questions helped us find more information about the past and about the history of the Maoris and Pakehas. We would tell before and after about the pictures and tell what is happening outside of the frame .

Food / technology

LI: Learning new knifes skills

 Today for food  technology  we did cooking with Mrs Heka  at Tamaki College .We  were learning on how to use  our knifes skills , we were making Colourful Fruit salad by using yellow and green kiwifruit and nice healthy grapes,oranges (Segment) . We started by using our Measuring cups by filling strawberry yogurts  till we reached one cup, I was working with Diana and Afa but i was on washing the dirty dishes so they can use the dishes again. After filling our Measuring cup with yogurt  Afa and Diana was cutting the fruit on the sides then cutting them in half  so we could start  on laying our yogurt onto our fruits . After the fruit  finished  getting cut i was washing the measuring spoons  so we  use the spoons to layer our yogurt onto our  colourful fruits , after our colourful  fruit salads  finished getting layered i washed the dishes and  cleant our fruits skins that were over the bench and the ground.

Cityscape of Paris

LI: To write a description of my Cityscape using prepositions

On  the left  side  of my cityscape of Paris you will see the  Eiffel Tower standing tall in a dark colour. I blended cool colours together with chalk pastels to make the sky look like sunset in purple and green.  On the top of the Eiffel  tower you'll see a light purple sky background, on the bottom  of my cityscape  I have chosen to make the  reflection light green. The Eiffel tower took two years to be built again, two months and 5 days was remarkably a short amount of time. It took 7,000 metric tons of puddling iron. Not many people know there are 1665 steps in total in the Eiffel Tower. It would take about  30 to 45 minutes to climb the stairs to the second floor. Did you know the Eiffel Tower was built by a strong hard working man called Alexandre Gustave and the reason he built the Eiffel Tower was because it was a world’s fair. Alexandre Gustave opened the Eiffel  tower to the public in 1889. While I was blending my cool colours in, I noticed I was pressing too hard with the purple and I was accidentally scraping the chalk so I added more colour to even out the areas with a piece of cotton wool . I used white chalk pastels to lighten the tone into a dark background. Did you know on top of the Eiffel  on the third floor you'll see all the buildings and a nice view but it will cost 25,90 for an adult and kids to 12-24 is 13,00 , children to 4-11 is 6,50 and  kids under four is free by using the lift.

Using exponets

   LI: To learn how to use Exponents

This week we were learning about exponents . Exponents are useful because 33  is easier to write 3 x 3 x 3 exponents tell us how many times we need to multiply a number .
Eg: 22 is the same as 2 x 2 ,
22 = 4 and 2 x 2 =14 .

DLO shows how we use our knowledge of exponents to collaboratively share our thinking to find the answer.
