Understanding fractions with Mr Fisi'iahi

LI: To learn how to group and split in fractions This week is our last session with Mr Fisiiahi for this term as it was last week.

For this week my group and I worked on fractions and played a game called Play tower of hanoi.

We also used Multi Link cubes to help us understand fractions and to help us solve the questions.

I really enjoyed playing with my partner solving fraction questions.

We also played a game called Dicy numbers which got us into partners.

This game was really fun and competitive as we had to see who was the first one to win.

Understanding fractions helps us understand the groups, twice and the double.

Double means twice as example 6+6=2 or 6 x 2=12.

Explanation

LI: To create a  Explanation about plastic pollution .

Why is it important to make wise choices ?

Rhetorical question : Why do people not care about saving our sea animals from plastic pollution ?

As a result of plastic pollution our sea animals are  slowly dying around the ocean of our globe from suffering  by confusing food and plastic or  rubbish together and eating the rubbish and causing them to die , unable to breathe and their little bodies filled with a big amount of rubbish . Because of the pollution happening around the world the causes of animals to die in such a horrible way is because people's  careless actions are  harming innocent  sea animals from not making wise choices and chooses to hurt our sea creature without realizing how much animals they are putting in danger .

People’s careless action by throwing rubbish and walking away like they aint gonna kill no sea creatures but actually one piece of rubbish or rubbish can affect every sea animal and every person because the germs from someone  that are on the rubbish and you touch it can  give u disease .

You can stop the plastic pollution that is happening around the world  by making wise choices and putting your rubbish in the bin and realize  how much animals you have made suffer by one piece of rubbish  . We can also help  our sea creatures  live a better life by  having to be a sensible leader and care for the environment by putting our rubbish in the bin and making wise choices , People who litter the wind are able to blow the  rubbish to the drains and the drain full of rubbish leads the rubbish  to the ocean and makes innocent sea animals suffer by eating rubbish or have been trapped and are unable to breathe or eat because of the amount of  plastic they have been eating could be able to block  there oxygen and make them suffer to death .

Today for writing Mrs Linda's group were working together to create a started plan off and then create our own Explanation story about plastic pollution . First we had to come up with an rhetorical question and then write more information about what we thought about our story and then write like what we could help to stop plastic pollution and what we thought about sea animals dying .

Tech : Science with Mrs Sharma

LI: To identify the different types and uses  of plastic .

Today at tech we had an activity where we had to listen carefully and think carefully  by arranging  our strips of  our questions and answers  in the  right place: Positive, Negative, Neutral . We had different types materials like Metal, plastic, paper, wood and fabric on a sheet of paper where we had to look around carefully  around the science room and write what furniture or decorations  , equipment are made out of those materials like an example is my first material was what is made out of metal like i saw scissors , Heater, Sharpener and the white board frame . Our task was to sort out the questions about plastic and sort them in which is positive , negative , neutral and explain why we thought that  if our answers were different to other peoples answer .

Do kids spend more time reading than teens

LI: Identify patterns and relationships between data .

Today my group members and I worked with Mr Fisi’iahi, He taught us about statistics and gathering data. We then gathered all the data and turned it into a graph. We also learned about the different types of  graphs and which is the best type of graph we should use to represent the data. Mr Fisi’iahi helped us understand the meanings as an example we learned what pre-teens  means, Pre teens means 12 and under which means teens means 13 and above. We also used a data card to help us understand more on what our learning is about. Something

Tuakana Teina

LI: To create string art panels

Today for Te wiki o te reo maori ( native language week ) LS2 would become like and older brother or older sister to help the little ones learn about different patterns to draw or design their own pattern  we helped Ruma Kotahi ( Room 1  ) and Ruma Korua ( Room 2 ) draw and design patterns and string panels . I helped Alex from Ruma Korua glue his string on the patterns he has chosen to draw and help him cut the right amount of string he needed to glue on the outline of his Turtle, fish  and the Maori  flag . Working with Alex was really hard to make him understand what he was  doing because he would wander off to work space 2 or because he was to excited to do art with LS2 but i just moved on and tried my best to help him understand and to focus then in the middle of our second block with Ruma Kotahi and Ruma Korua Alex was really excited to cut the string and also he loved to glue the string or connect the lose string to the end of the string . Something i learnt today about  helping Alex was that he was really excited to help me do his art and he even wanted to help everyone else on our table we worked on glue there strings .

Whakapapa , family tree

LI: To create a DLO about your family tree .

This week for our Te Reo Challenge, I created a DLO that talks about my family tree DLO that shows my family members' names. I used Maori words that could help us understand  more about my  family tree. The family tree includes our siblings, parents, grandparents and great grandparents and also it has designs I traced and created. The most interesting fact I learned well making this DLO was that another word for Family Tree is Whakapapa. I have done my whakapapa half Samoan and half Maori .

Biology

L.I To look for evidence in the data/an image and infer what might be happening

This DLO is about Observation and Science. Science is  empirical which means it is based on. I worked with Liletina ,Afatia and Sakshi. We all worked together and shared our ideas on this DLO. We looked for images  that links to the information on our DLO to help the readers understand what our DLO is about. We completed  our task by working together,Sharing our ideas,  Helping  each other to get this task done.  I also really enjoyed working and giving my ideas on what I should do to get this task done and completed. I also really enjoyed talking to my group members to explain What is Science?.
