My Reading Pathway

 LI: To show my personal journey through the books

This week is book week at Panmure Bridge School, which means every class participates in a number of reading activities. One of our activities was to create a reading pathway that shows how my favourite books have changed over time. At the moment I like reading History books because it teaches me the past generations history and their living.

Polyneisan Pathers

 LI: To evaluate (form an opinion) the text and respond to provocation.

A provocation is a meaningful action or speech that strikes strong feelings about lawful and political topics. A provocation is something used with the purpose to make someone feel angry or upset but that is not the purpose of our DLO. Were  the Polynesian Panthers right to Protest against the actions of the Government? 

Polynesian Panthers was a group formed in 1971 by a group of university students and former gang members fighting for the rights of all polynesians that has been affected and scarred by these raids.Dawn Raids are raids that happened at dawn where police officers, government officials, and dog squads would raid the homes of Polynesian families and shine torches in the faces of many people no matter if they were elderly or little children police officers would ask for passports and ID if they were not shown then families who had all right to stay in New Zealand would be deported to there place of birth, this has caused trauma for many Polynesian people due to the traumatizing events that has taken place within their homes. The dawn aids will forever be a shameful stain in NZ. Police officers would also go up to people who looked Pacific Islander and  would ask for passports and identifecations these racial acts were kown as “Blitzes”.We think that the Polynesian Panthers had all right to protest against the wrongful actions of the Government because families were being teared apart and deported and also being traumatized due to the Dawn Raids. 

Presenting Assembly/Confidence

 LI:To present at assembly 

Today for my second task for confidence I chose to present at assembly to build my confidece of taking risk's.Something I found interesting about presetning at assembly is because it made me build my confidence of speaking in front of more people.Something I learnt about presetning at school assmebly Is to slow and breathe before talking if I am about to stress out.Building my confidence from leading assembly helped me alot because now that I took a risk I can now be confident at facing my fear taking a risk.

Stand Up To Bullies / Confidence

 LI:Create A DLO of how to stand up to bullies 

This task is about creating a DLO about how to stand up to bullies.I made up my own stand meaning how to stand up to bullies,Stand , Stands for Speak up, Talk to someone,Never listen to bullies,Dont be a bully. Doing this task was interesting to me because I used my own words to help someone stand up to bullies and what happens if your in that suitation.My advice for cyberbullying is to stand up for yourself and talk to someone as soon as possible instead of keeping locked away.

Hidden Cost Challenge

LI: To make smart choices with money

For maths we had an ASB Getwise Challenge that helped us make smart choices with money.This activity was really helpful because it helped me think about being wise with my money or budget given.Something I found interesting about this activity was doing challeneges that help us be wise with our money given to us.Something I learnt from doing this challenge was being wiser with the bduget of money you are given adn to think before making you descsions.

ASB getwise

 LI:To make wise choices with your money. 

Today we had a ASB getwise session with Marlon. Marlon taught us how to use your money wisely and to stop think and choose wisely before making the decision you are facing. We played a game in teams that would help us make a wise decision of how we spend our money by working as a team and being a team player . Every decision we choose comes with earning points, the more points we earn from our decision is earned because of our wise choices we have made .

Our task was to use our $1800 dollars sensibly that we received to go to Fiji on holiday. Me and my team Bella,Leitu,Afatia worked together to use our money cleverly so the points we earn the better time we enjoy there. The first activity we did was paying for our passport and the passport cost exactly $200 dollars. We had two choices: pay now or pay later but paying later will make the cost higher so we paid now . Everyone had a decision that made us stop thinking and choose wisely whether we have the least money or not. It all matters about the way you are spending money .

Our team chose a credit card and paid $300 dollars as soon as we expected too .If you don't pay when you are supposed to, your budget will go $100 dollars more .The 3 decisions we had of activities was Surfuring ($100) , Snorkeling ( $200) , Skydiving($300) so we chose snorkeling because the left over money we had was $200 so we chose to spend .Something I found interesting about ASB getwise was learning how to be wise with the money and how to save or spend .

Summary about money

 LI: To create an summary about money 

This week , My group created an Summary about money , we first started off by reading about it. It talked about how money was used back in the days , how money was created ? Who created money ? What money looked like back in our history. We then found 20 words that we thought was important from the story , then we chose six most important words from the 20 words , after that we created a summary telling us about what we read by using the six most important words.Something I found interesting is learning about the history about money and where the word money comes from. The word money comes for the Latin word Moneta, in ancient Rome.
